Having been an F.E. and H.E. lecturer I have the experience and expertise to show adults how to develop their own writing style and how they can fulfil the needs of the reader.
In many instances this has lead to a thorough analysis of what a story actually consists of and how, through dialogue, setting, character and plotpoints you can drive a story forward to a satisfying conclusion. This usually takes the form of developing a character, plotpoint or a setting in isolation from a definite story and exploring the ways we can involve the reader through varying amounts of detail and description.
I have worked on a daily 'drop-in' basis in Libraries, Residential homes, Art Galleries and Museums, mostly on inter-generational projects to develop dialogue and an understanding of the different needs and outlook of different age groups.
I have led many 3-4 day weekend courses on developing writing and storytelling with a huge range of abilities and expectations.
In every instance I have always tried to bring out the strengths of the particpants and given them a clear goal to help them in recognising and developing their own writing skills.
